BRA PURSES have been the topic of conversation on the Red Hat Society
Queen Mother Board in numerous forums. Although some instructions for their construction
were given, the process was not very clear to me. So I decided to experiment and
found that there are not that many ways to do it.
The embellishing and "making gaudy", however, creates the differences
and makes each purse a unique, one-of-a-kind Red Hat accessory!
I was fortunate to find five, very large, red velvet "Christmas" bras on which to experiment;
each one was decorated differently and presented to a friend as a Red Hat present.
I happened upon the purple lace bra and thought it would make a nice, though small, purse.
Having used velcro as fasteners on the original five, I learned that it was simpler to use
the "hook and eye" from the bra's back to fashion as a closure on the purple one; it is
more efficient and helps utilize a part of the garment which would have been thrown away!
